Back to working in Illustrator again, in prep for the beginning of the Logo Project that we begin on Tuesday.

  1. Read Chapter 3 OF YOUR TEXTBOOK
  2. Read this article- Logo
  3. Complete Textbook p55 project in Adobe ILLUSTRATOR- figure/ground  and letterforms- project using your initials to make an interesting design. Please use the Pathfinder* tips below (just 1 is needed- upload to Dropbox)
  4. Complete Textbook p70-71 Elephonts assignment in Adobe ILLUSTRATOR (do 2 animals) Examples on the gallery page!

Due Sept 27th worth 40 points

TIPS :

Make good use of the pathfinder window after converting your initials to paths, (also ungroup them).

If you have forgotten how to use pathfinder (it was in the Illustrator chapter you read -p73) or how to combine shapes look at this here

Reminders for Online Thursday

This Thursday 13th is an Online Thursday! This is your to do list. Getting it done and uploaded to Dropbox on the 13th is also your attendance for this online session.

  • Project 1 is due
  • HW 7 is due (allow 3-5 hrs for this)
  • HW 8 is due (45 mins)
  • Read over the guidelines for Project 2- and look for the post with the story.(Posted on Thursday sometime.) This project is due on Sept 20th, it has a very fast turn around time due to our clients needs. The faster you can get started the better.

Give this a read then go back through and take notes of all the new things you have learned for your future reference- just the same as you did for the Illustrator chapter.

Upload this reference sheet to Dropbox by Sept 11th 15 points.

Practice these techniques on the computer so you know how to use them.  We will do a few more tutorials and videos in Photoshop – especially covering the use of Masks and Layers which will be used for Project 2, but this reading gives you a great foundation.

 

Reminders Online Thursday

As you know from the schedule, tomorrow is our first official Online Thursday class! 🙂

Reminders for tomorrow’s class:

  • You do not need to come to class in person
  • Come to class if you want to work in lab or like extra help
  • HW4 is due
  • Work on HW5 – this counts as your ‘attendance in class’
  • Upload more progress on Project 1 for feedback by 5pm as stated in schedule
  • More tutorials will be posted on Thursday to start you learning Photoshop for the next project.

Complete this tutorial above during your online class on Sept Thursday 6th. Use the exercise files they include at the link so you can follow along- some will have a copyright notice on them- turn it off, or trash in the layers palette. Upload all changed files(or notes instead) to Dropbox as proof of online class attendance by the latest Sept 11th. 20 points  (*tip: increase the speed of the video on the bottom right of vid, if you think it is too slow otherwise it will take 2 hrs 33 mins to watch)
